In the last 14 years, the Playhouse
has become a busy place!
In 2015 we realized we needed a little more room!
We also had some much-needed repairs and drainage work to tackle on this historic 1930's church, an Old Cloverdale landmark recognized in the National Trust's
This Place Matters campaign.
The Courtyard Stage project combined major, much-needed facility improvements with attractive new features including a new 28 foot wooden stage and paved, ADA accessible entry points to the Playhouse School
and rehearsal/performance space.
Since the Courtyard Stage (lovingly called our "Front Porch") has become a reality,
it has hosted several Guitar Pulls, classes, receptions, and now a fully realized production.
With the inception of our new
Playhouse Underground Series,
it will be host to more future productions.
We are grateful to the J.K. Lowder Family Foundation and the Alabama State Council on the Arts for giving this project the start it needed, and equally grateful to Goodwyn Mills and Cawood and Foshee Design & Construction for bringing this idea to life.
