Improv for Young Actors will introduce the basic building blocks of improvisation and character to students, stretching their imagination and focusing their attention of collaborating by utilizing the art of "Yes, And...?"

**The day is split into two workshops based on age. All students should register for the workshop time that corresponds with their age

Bo Jinright is an actor and improviser with a long history of training, performance, and education across the Southeast. He was a founding member of the Brain Freeeze improv troupe, and our resident Playhouse troupe "Yes, And...?!". His experience in theatre, and specifically with improvisation and education will insure his worshops at the Playhouse are entertaining and challenging.

Sewing for Beginners:

In this workshop we will cover hand sewing basics like threading a needle, attaching a button, and mending a hem with a number of hand stitches. We will also cover threading a sewing machine and reading a simple pattern. This workshop is perfect for anyone who has been wanting to learn to sew but doesn't know where to start, or just wants to be able to use sewing practically to mend and fix garments at home. It could even assist you with costume construction here at the Playhouse!

Rita Tidwell is the AV Production Assistant at First Baptist Church of Montgomery, and a long time friend of the Cloverdale Playhouse. She graduated with a degree in Theatre Design & Technology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Her theatrical interests include stage management, lighting design, costume construction, and props design.

Our Special Effects Makeup workshop is an opportunity to learn all the best ways to create a look for the stage or camera that turns you into whatever your imagination can conjure.

Amber Chapman is a makeup specialist, improvisor/actor, and all-around theatre geek. In addition to desiging makeup and wigs for the Playhouse's recent productions of  A Lesson Before Dying, Treasure Island, Dot, and The Explorers Club, she's led two very popular Playhouse Stage Makeup workshops in 2023. We are excited to welcome her back for more cosmetic creativity!

Our Vocal Performance Workshop is designed to cover some basics of vocal pedagogy (particularly for musical theater) with lots of tips and techniques that make it interactive and fun!

Rachel Pickering Seeley is a private voice teacher based in Prattville. She’s a NATS member teacher with ten years of experience teaching private voice. As the owner of a voice studio in Prattville, she works with a wide range of students to build strong vocal technique. Rachel studied vocal performance at the University of Montevallo from 2012-2017, and she continues to find opportunities to perform and participate in vocal competitions, winning or placing at the state and national level in various events. She is committed to growth as both a performer and teacher of vocal pedagogy and regularly studies with top vocal instructors through private lessons and master classes.
