Friends of the Playhouse

Your help is important.

Since opening in 2012, we have produced over 60 mainstage productions and offered year-round acting classes and musical events. Ticket sales only cover about 35% percent of the Playhouse’s expenses, including maintenance for our historic 1930’s building. You and our other Friends make the difference by funding the gap between box office receipts and operating budget. Please consider making a gift this year.

The Playhouse is a creative hub in our community.

We strive to keep our ticket costs low while providing the best entertainment value we can. 

In addition to our five feature plays starring terrific local talent, we produce special events, year-round acting classes for all ages, and a host of musical events and surprises. Friends of the Playhouse make each season possible. Your Playhouse is a place where people join together to create living art, to collaborate, to enjoy life, 

and to celebrate the ways in which we are alike. 

The Playhouse is an important part of our community, and Friends of the Playhouse, like you, make it all possible. Please help us make our 14th season the best yet!

We want to remind you of a few of the most impactful, taxwise actions you can take now to keep the Cloverdale Playhouse strong and keep the arts alive in our community:

  • Make a stock gift!

    Donating a charitable gift of stock or mutual fund shares is a great way to keep CP’s lights on!  By transferring stock (held long-term) to the Cloverdale Playhouse by December 31st, you can avoid all capital gain and deduct the full current value of the stock as a charitable gift if you itemize.  You can even go on to repurchase the same stock for your portfolio and start fresh with no capital gain for your portfolio!

  • Use your IRA!

    Even though there are no requirements for an RMD this year, if you’re 70 ½ or older and you have a traditional IRA, you’re eligible to make a taxwise gift directly from your IRA to the Cloverdale Playhouse. It’s sometimes called a “charitable IRA rollover” or a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD). It can potentially keep you in a lower tax bracket because the gift bypasses your income and incurs no federal tax on the transfer.  All of your money goes where you want it to! Important – the gift must be received by CP by December 31st.  As a 501 (c) (3), the Playhouse qualifies. Be sure to have your IRA manager identify you as the donor of a QCD and have your gift sent directly to:
