Playhouse Underground

There are so many excellent new plays in the landscape of theatre,
but we aren't always able to produce them on the main stage.
We have created the Playhouse Underground to allow local artists to produce and perform edgier,
more mature new plays in our smaller outdoor Courtyard Stage and our downstairs rehearsal hall space.
These shows have limited runs, but provide our audiences and artists who crave more provocative
theatre a place to explore and workshop those types of plays.
The Underground Series also makes use of two performances spaces on the Playhouse grounds that otherwise would not be used as frequently. Give an artist an empty space to fill "with sound and fury"!
Previously in the Playhouse Underground Series:
Do you know the tale of the Creature from the lake? In this gritty, sensual fable for adults, a small conservative village is enticed by offers from an outsider and everything begins to change. This one man show weaves a cautionary, spooky tale about industrialization, climate change, nationalism, and queer romance. Join your nighttime tour guide Randy around the campfire as he tells the story of a fallen town and a mysterious creature who comes to warn the inhabitants of their impending doom.
